New York, July 30, 2007 – Does Ella Bleu Travolta, 7-year-old daughter of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston, really need a summer job? Probably not, considering that her old man is rich enough to own a fleet of private jets. But the job Ella got has to be one of the best summer jobs ever, hands down. She’s appearing in a movie called Old Dogs along with mom and dad, and spent Monday afternoon cavorting in an amusement park, riding the rides and sliding down the big slide – all for work!

Well, mostly for work; some of the afternoon’s adventures seemed to be purely for fun. We’re not sure they were even filming when Ella and Kelly rode on the train ride (in blue car at left) – no cameras were rolling, and nobody yelled “Cut!” while mother and daughter had a ball.

John Travolta was not on the set that day, but costar Robin Williams was, and he also took spins with Ella on amusement rides like the AeroMax and the big slide.

The film set was in New York’s Central Park, where the open-air Wollman ice skating rink turns into a Victorian Gardens amusement park during the summer. It's open to the public.

The Family That Works Together: Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony at El Cantante Premiere

New York, July 26, 2007 – Whether or not Latin music superstar Marc Anthony is a good actor, he’s certainly born to play king of salsa Hector Lavoe in the movie El Cantante. In English, the title is simply “The Singer”, which Marc is to legions of fans. And the title character has a Bronx-born wife, played by Marc’s Bronx-born wife, Jennifer Lopez.

The pair heated up Times Square on Thursday evening at the premiere, where they joked about working together. “Oh, it was terrible!” said Marc. “Hated it!” J. Lo chimed in, and then said, seriously, “It’s funny – I saw it as a much more relaxing experience than working with actors that you don’t know. We’re very comfortable with each other.” Marc added, “There’s a certain shorthand that comes with being a married couple – an unspoken language kind of thing.”

J. Lo’s best bud Leah Remini lent her support at the premiere, as did mom Guadalupe and sister Linda Lopez. El Cantante opens August 3.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Talks Food at No Reservations Premiere
Catherine Zeta-Jones & costar Aaron Eckhart at the New York premiere of No Reservations

New York, July 25, 2007 – Catherine Zeta-Jones plays a professional chef in No Reservations, but she admitted at the New York premiere on Wednesday that she isn’t the chief cook at her own house. “Um, you want the truth? We kind of mix it up a bit. But I must say my husband does a mean breakfast, to the point where my kids think that he doesn’t do anything else but make pancakes”, she said. Hubby is actor Michael Douglas.

The thrill of working in a real restaurant kitchen while shooting the film wore off quickly. “The first few days of shooting the movie, it was like, oh, lovely, let’s get some pasta for lunch. You know, and the chefs would cook me up something to keep me going throughout the day”, Zeta-Jones recalled. “And then by the third day, fourth day, it was like, if I have to smell one more thing, I’m going to throw up.”

But the role did give her new appreciation for dining, as a customer, in restaurants. “I eat fast because I had to; my mother used to give it to the dog otherwise, so I’m always eating fast”, the Oscar winner told us at the Ziegfeld Theater. “And I think, you know what, maybe I should take my time and savor these flavors. Those poor people back there [in the kitchen] have been sweating for me for like 45 minutes.”

After this experience, if she worked at a restaurant, which job would she choose? “I’d be the person who stands welcoming people in and out”, she said, laughing. “It’s hard work back there in the kitchen, let me tell you.”
