Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, April 29, 2007 – Sunday was a busy day for Samuel L. Jackson and Kenny G. Both played in the annual Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament during the day, and then we met them again that evening at the Gift of Life Tribute, where they gave us the final results. “Kenny G. won in a tee-off”, Jackson reported. Kenny confirmed that, and added that the previous year he “let them” win". You can see it yourself on June 10, on NBC. Apparently Haley Joel Osment hasn’t stopped driving after his DUI arrest. He was puttering around the Trump National Golf Club in a golf cart. Does that count as driving? Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones also inclulde Heather Locklear, Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Kyle MacLachlan, Cheryl Ladd and Alice Cooper among their friends. |

Angelina
Jolie Sneaks into Tribeca Film Festival |

New York, April 27, 2007 – Our phone started buzzing on Friday morning with rumors that Angelina Jolie would make a top secret appearance at a Tribeca Film Festival screening of a documentary that she directed with the working title A Moment in the World. So we called those cinema sleuths over at The Reeler- they’d broken that news over a month ago – and they already had the scoop. Jolie apparently wanted no media attention; the film was not listed on any of the Tribeca Film Festival literature. The unannounced screening for Bronx Preparatory Charter School students took place around 2 P.M. on Friday at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and Jolie did appear. Those folks, including the Open All Night crew, who gathered at TPAC later in the afternoon for the world premiere of The Grand, saw school children streaming out of the theater, followed by Angelina herself. The title of the film had been changed on brochures that attendees carried. |

Hot Hollywood Makes Room for J. Lo |

Los Angeles, April 26, 2007 – Everybody out of the way! They closed the red carpet at Us Weekly’s Hot Hollywood 2007 party in anticipation of Jennifer Lopez’s arrival – Kim Kardashian and rapper Akon were victims of the sweep, giving up face time and heading into Sugar for the party. And when J. Lo finally arrived, with Marc Anthony and friends Leah Remini and Angelo Pagan in tow, she was met with ear splitting screams. But not from fans – PETA protesters were loudly telling us about the fur-loving Lopez’s crimes against the animal kingdom. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz came together, but then walked the red carpet separately, embarrassed to be seen in one another's company. Lindsay Lohan sported a crop of major long blonde hair. The party celebrated Hollywood style makers, and Us packed in quite a crowd, including Paris Hilton, Ryan Seacrest, Amber Tamblyn, David Arquette, Carmen Electra and Ciara. The very hot and stylish Rebecca Romijn couldn’t make it, reportedly because she rushed to Holland due to an illness in her family. |

Vanity Fair, Al Gore's SOS Open Tribeca Film Festival |

New York, April 24-25, 2007 – The Tribeca Film Festival pre-opened with Vanity Fair’s usual party, and it’s nice to see the spare-no-expense magazine is budgeting on décor: the State Supreme Courthouse steps were bedecked with the same white votive candles, capped by the same giant letters spelling out the name in red. Festival founder Robert De Niro and wife Grace Hightower ran by the media area so fast, some people didn’t even realize they had come. De Niro's partner, Jane Rosenthal, was amazed that this is the film fest’s fifth incarnation. David Bowie, who is as shy as De Niro, kept joyfully announcing that he and Iman had been married 15 years ago on that very day. He was, literally, beaming. The Tribeca fest’s official opening was the following day, and host Al Gore turned it into an inconvenient day, with a press conference in the afternoon, followed by the SOS short film program in the evening. Interspersed with the nine short films about the environment were live people saying things – Petra Nemcova, Diego Luna, Martin Scorsese, who was spoofed by Jimmy Fallon wearing fake bushy eyebrows. De Niro and Rosenthal said a few words, and Gore was a bit long winded, politician-style. Jon Bon Jovi closed with a three-song set, including “Here Comes the Sun”. Adrian Grenier, Christie Brinkley, Jesse Bradford, Christopher Walken, Julia Stiles and Shalom Harlow took in the SOS films, part of Gore’s huge Live Earth concerts scheduled for July. |

New York, April 24, 2007 – Those folks at Hennessy really know how to throw parties – from large to small to intimate. Tuesday’s bash - when 400 guests including Mandy Moore, Jay-Z, Fabolous and Serena Williams packed NYC club Arena for a “private” party - fell in the large category. But it wasn’t just the cocktails that got everyone out and on their feet. Performances from R&B singer Ne-Yo and Liv Tyler’s hot rocker husband Royston Langdon’s band Arckid kicked off a new round of those Hennessy Artistry concert tours. Different artists this year, but we woke up with the same old hangover the next morning. Photos: Marion Curtis/Startraks |

Food
Bank Honors Jimmy Fallon, The Edge at Star-Studded Bash |

New York, April 23, 2007 – The carpet was orange at the Food Bank for New York’s Can-Do Awards on Monday, where Jimmy Fallon and The Edge (of U2) were honored for their commitment to hunger relief. Even on the orange carpet - orange is apparently the color of hunger awareness – the good looking celebs at the gala managed to shine. David Bowie and Iman were surprise guests. Helena Christensen brought Kate Bosworth, and said “We’re just kind of making it like, a girlfriend night”. “We’ve been friends for a while”, Bosworth added. (Insert your own Kate Bosworth/hunger relief joke here.) “I don’t really like giving long speeches”, Jimmy Fallon said before the proceedings began. “I just want to come in, and say thank you to everyone out there who’s doing more work than I am. And then you eat dinner with strangers and get drunk, and then you go home.” So, he wrote a song. “Tonight, I’m playing “Car Wash for Peace”, Fallon informed us. But never fear, there were speeches: Bill Clinton said his piece, as did The Edge. Those handsome guests included Ed Burns and Christy Turlington, Stanley Tucci, Michael Stipe, Chelsea Clinton, Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich, Patti Smith, Rachael Ray and proud new parents Elvis Costello and Diana Krall.
