Los Angeles, December 21, 2006 – EXCLUSIVE - Carmen Electra’s Carmen Electra Prepaid MasterCard was burning a hole in her pocket, so she gave it a nice workout with a two-hour shopping spree at trendy L.A. boutique Intuition. Carmen picked up red high-heeled shoes, lingerie and sweats by Primp and Charlotte's Web. She also discovered denim line Rich & Skinny, and thought their jeans fit her perfectly. We agree. She looked at baby gifts for ideas for a friend who’s expecting.

But Carmen was careful while racking up the charges, checking prices and thinking seriously before buying – she nixed one jacket that she loved, because, she said, she already has three like it at home.

One thing Carmen couldn’t resist wasn’t even for sale: she was enchanted by a fellow customer’s 8-week-old puppy, and stopped to coo and play with the adorable pooch.

Classy Tara Reid at Black Xmas premiere

December 14-21, 2006 – Tara Reid wowed everybody with her chic look at the premiere of Black Christmas, a cheesy horror film. We’re not sure what she was doing there, as Tara does not appear in the movie, but nonetheless, she was sober, and looked stunning. We have the holiday spirit, and are happy to bring you this nice story about Tara, who, with her droopy dress was responsible for Open All Night’s most popular article ever.

But never fear, Survivor: Cook Islands winner Yul Kwan carried Tara’s torch this week: his fly was open during the entire season finale at CBS Television City on Sunday. The Yale Law school grad won $1 million.

Quite a few VIPs came out for the opening of The Bayou Legend, a theatrical piece directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen. We spotted Quincy Jones, Dave Meyers, legend Berry Gordy and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones at UCLA’s Kaufman Hall on opening night.

L.A. Laker Kobe Bryant and other NBA stars, including Kareem Abdul Jabar and Stephon Marbury, joined Senator Hillary Clinton in Harlem on Thursday to distribute food to the needy, an operation dubbed “Miracle on 138th Street”.

Beyonce Knowles & Jay-Z sneak into Nas' after party

New York, December 18, 2006 – Monday was a big night for Nas, as he celebrated the release of his new album, Hip Hop is Dead, with back-to-back events from early evening until early morning.

After a “secret” concert at Webster Hall, Nas headed over to hotspot Gin Lane, where he joined his wife Kelis for an "intimate" dinner party – for about 100 pals – including NBA star Chris Webber and a tuxedo-clad Mark Wahlberg, who showed up unannounced. The dinner was hosted by Hennessy Paradis, which has been responsible for some of New York’s hottest recent parties.

Around midnight, the posse took off for the official record release party at Capitale, and Nas played up the “Hip Hop is Dead” theme by driving up in a hearse. Somewhere between parties, Kelis changed from her black-and-white Alexander McQueen into a red frock.

We spied Spike Lee, Ja Rule, Omarion, Andre Harrell and Chamillionaire roaming around the cavernous space. Beyonce and Jay-Z, surrounded by refrigerator-sized security guards, made their way through the throng and disappeared into the VIP area.

New York, December 18, 2006 – Cate Blanchett robs a cradle in Notes on a Scandal, playing a teacher who has an affair with her teenaged student, played by Andrew Simpson, now 17 years old. At the movie’s premiere, Simpson chatted about how friends and family reacted to news of the steamy role. “You’re a lucky boy”, said his schoolmates back in Ireland. “My mom asked me to do a comedy next”, he added. But shooting the scenes was less than sizzling; “When there’s forty people watching you in a thong, it’s pretty scary", Simpson said, laughing.

Bill Nighy said he that didn’t have any advice for his young costar, and told The Carpetbagger that he was naked onstage for his first kissing scene – with a man! Nighy is currently appearing opposite Julianne Moore on Broadway in The Vertical Hour, and he’s loving it. “She’s somebody that I’ve admired for years and years, and I get to work with her eight times a week”, he told us. “And she’s also enchanting company, and a bloody good laugh. So we have a good time.”

Sleeping With Dinosaurs: Night at the Museum Premiere

New York, December 17, 2006 – Some lucky kids’ dreams – or nightmares – came true on Sunday, when they got to sleep overnight amongst the dinosaur skeletons at the American Museum of Natural History. The world’s first sleepover movie premiere was for Night at the Museum, and it was not only original, but lots of fun. Kids and their guardians brought sleeping bags and pajamas, watched the movie, and went on late-night flashlight tours of the museum. Ben Stiller, the star, said that he’d be leading a tour, but wouldn’t spend the night, “It’s a little spooky”, he added.

Ricky Gervais also declined to sleep on the cots; “I’ve got a nice hotel room”, the British funny man said, while ogling the cavemen, ancient Egyptians and aborigines stalking the red carpet under the dinosaur bones.

One person who did spend the night was Adrian Grenier, and apparently there wasn’t much sleeping – when we ran into him the following night, he told us he’d been so tired that he had to take a nap during the day.

86-year-old Mickey Rooney was lively, introducing everyone to his wife, Jan. He’s been making movies since he was a kid – and he’s got three more in the pipeline! Rooney joined cast mates Paul Rudd, Kim Raver and Stiller’s mom, Anne Meara at the museum.
