Discovering
"Pobs" at The Holiday Premiere |

New York, November 29, 2006 – Cameron Diaz barely acknowledged reporters at Wednesday’s premiere of The Holiday, the movie in which she swaps houses with Kate Winslet's character. The famously media unfriendly Diaz even got snippy when the big gun TV shows that she did grace with her presence asked who she’d like to swap houses with in real life. Because, you know, she’d been asked that question so many times that day. Life is a heartache. While Diaz went brunette, Kate Winslet had her hair tied in a knot at the nape, and at first glance, everyone thought she’d cut it short! After all, Kate is British, and bobbed hair is a big trend over in the U.K., set off by Victoria Beckham’s recent shearing. In fact, the Brits have dubbed the look a “Pob” – for Posh’s bob. (See what you learn here on OAN?) We’ll call Winslet’s a “quasi-Pob”. The Holiday costar Jack Black’s been wearing his hair in a Pob for ages, but he wasn’t at the premiere. |

Finally,
A Chance to Get Into David Cassidy's Pants |

New York, November 28, 2006 – If you wanted to get into David Cassidy’s pants back in the ‘70s, now’s your chance. The one-time teen heartthrob has placed some of his costumes from that era up for auction for charity. Picture yourself in those custom dark blue polyester overalls that he wore onstage in 1974! Hot! Cassidy personally dropped off some of the memorabilia, which in addition to clothing includes musical instruments and awards, at the Hard Rock Café in New York City, where it will be on display until December 1. While we were disappointed not to find the Partridge Family bus on exhibit, we did chat with Cassidy as he checked out an iconic lunchbox from the 1970s TV sitcom. He claimed that as a boy, he didn’t even have a lunchbox, but instead walked to school carrying lunch in a brown paper bag. “I did have a Hop-Along Cassidy watch”, he told us. “I don’t know what happened to that. It’s probably worth a fortune”, David added. Overall, the pop music star admitted that he is not really a collector, and doesn’t mind letting his stuff go. The auction is online at thru December 16 at juliensauctions.com |

Film Greats at NYC Premiere of Curse of the Golden Flower |

New York, November 27, 2006 – While a screening dedicated to the late Robert Altman was taking place at the Walter Reade Theater on Monday, the great Chinese director Yimou Zhang was very much alive and breathing in another part of Lincoln Center, at the premiere of his latest, Curse of the Golden Flower. The film stars Gong Li, perhaps China’s most famous actress, and she popped into New York for the premiere. Costars Jay Chou, a popular Taiwanese R&B singer, and Chow Yun-Fat, who is much better known to American audiences, couldn’t make it. Attendees included Bebe Neuwirth, Candice Bergen, Moby, Michael Nouri and tenor Placido Domingo. Glenn Close refused to say what mishap caused her to have her foot in a cast, but it couldn’t have been overly embarrassing since she laughed when we teased her about it. |
