New York, March 30, 2006 – Surprisingly, Kate Moss didn’t show up at a party called the “Coke Side of Life”, but it turned out this was a party for Coca-Cola. But the fashion world was well represented, with designers Carlos Miele, Esteban Cortazar and Jamison Ernest in the house. Ernest plans to expand his Yellow Fever brand, which is currently a line of clothing, a band, a record label, a store and who knows what else. Someday, you’ll be able to use your Yellow Fever vibrator in the privacy of your room at the Yellow Fever Hotel and Condos. “We’re looking right, actually, on Chrystie Street, and right across the whole park. So we’ve been looking at all the properties there”, Ernest said. A vibrator? “A very high-end, custom vibrator”, he said, seriously. (Definitely grab a gift bag at that launch party!)

We have no idea if Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons’ marriage is on the rocks, as has been rumored, but she sure looks better on Russell’s arm than Richie Akiva, who he brought to the Coke party. Jay-Z, Hank Azaria, Zoe Saldana and Danny Masterson also checked out Ne-Yo’s performance.

Naomi Campbell Arrested, Covers Up With Poncho
Naomi Campbell exiting the Midtown North Police Precinct in Manhattan. The poncho keeps her hands covered, so we cannot tell if she is handcuffed.

New York, March 30, 2006 - Breaking -12:28 PM EST - Open All Night has learned that Supermodel Naomi Campbell is in police custody at Midtown North Precinct in Manhattan.

Details are vague at this time, but sources say Campbell was taken into custody at her Manhattan apartment. A NYPD official told us that she was brought into the precint in handcuffs at about 12 noon today, and that Campbell will be booked.

NYPD officials would not discuss the case, and said that a statement will be released.

According to Gawker.com Campbell was arrested for assault.

UPDATE 1:33 PM - As we await more news on this case, ten video crews, 25 photographers and over a dozen reporters have gathered in front of the police station where Naomi Campbell is being held. The warm, sunny afternoon is pleasant for waiting around.

UPDATE 4:10 PM - Naomi Campbell left the Midtown North Precinct, fashionably dressed in a white poncho that would conveniently cover any handcuffs. Over 100 media professionals greeted her. Campbell's rep stated that Campbell was treated well by the police, and that she is innocent, and will be exonerated.

UPDATE 4:45 PM - Campbell arrived at the courthouse at 100 Centre Street for arraignment, still wearing the white poncho.

UPDATE 5:37 PM - Insiders report that Campbell is sitting alone in detention - meaning that she is not in a cell with other detainees - downstairs in the criminal court building in lower Manhattan. The judge is not in at the moment, and lawyers said they do not yet know when she will be released.

UPDATE 6:57 PM - Naomi Campbell has been released on her own recognizance, and has been allowed to retain her passport. A reporter inside the courtroom told us that Campbell's lawyer used a Nelson Mandela strategy, arguing that since Naomi is scheduled to do charity work with Mandela in South Africa, it wouldn't be fair to the children she's aiding, and so she should be permitted to keep her passport. It worked.

Naomi is due back in court on June 27, 2006.

UPDATE 7:10 PM - Naomi Campbell left the courthouse. She said a few words to reporters as she ran to her car. She was still wearing the poncho.

Gloria Estefan Gets Benefit Jumping

Daisy Fuentes

New York, March 28, 2006 – It was a Latina love fest at Cipriani Wall Street on Tuesday, when Thalia stopped by to catch Daisy Fuentes introduce a concert performance by Gloria Estefan. And all the chitchat pre-show on the red carpet was en Espanol! Well, most of it. Emilio Estefan told us, in English, that they were excited to be invited to do the concert, a benefit for the American Foundation for AIDS Research, because it’s an urgent cause. “It’s only a small thing that we can do to help people”. He wouldn’t divulge the program before the concert, but gave us a hint of what his wife would sing that evening: “A lot of Latin stuff, I can tell you. They’re going to be jumping on their seats.” Gloria is following up her first children’s book with a sequel, due out in October. “It’s done, and I’m thrilled. I’m happy how it turned out”, she told us.

Pussycat Dolls perform at Gibson Amphitheater

Los Angeles, March 28, 2006 – Fergie, lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, turned 31 this week, and celebrated her birthday in her hometown of Los Angeles in typically subdued fashion, performing one-handed cartwheels at the band’s sold-out show at the Gibson Amphitheater. Not quite ready for a rocking chair, Fergie hosted friends and family at a birthday party later that night, after the show, at a Hollywood hot spot.

As she gets older, Fergie is getting richer – she’s a character in a video game, Honda Civic is sponsoring the concert tour, and the group is choosing finishes for a Black Eyed Peas suite at a Hard Rock Hotel.

The Pussycat Dolls joined the Peas on the Honda Civic Tour, and rocked the Gibson crowd.
