Nicole Kidman Hides Ring at ASC Awards
Nicole Kidman, with director Sydney Pollack, keeps hands hidden
Nicole Kidman covers her left hand
Nicole Kidman didn't let down her guard - there were even cameras behind her back
We got a peek at Kidman's ring after all

Los Angeles, Feb. 26, 2006 – When Nicole Kidman arrived at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on Sunday for the American Society of Cinematographers’ awards gala, she waited outside in her car for 35 minutes, entering just moments before she was to present an award. Once inside, Kidman deliberately kept her left hand out of sight, covering the diamond ring that is rumored to be a gift from her beau, country singer Keith Urban. The Oscar-winning actress had previously displayed the ring nonchalantly at some recent public events, and the couple held hands in front of a global television audience at the Grammy Awards earlier this month.

Kidman was at the ASC gala to present an award to Sydney Pollack, who directed her in The Interpreter.

Star-Studded NAACP Image Awards
Carlos Santana's award goes to his head
Alicia Keys hoists some of her statuettes
Tyra Banks makes sure everthing is in place
Teri Hatcher's infamous transparent Grammy dress
Kerry Washington - same dress, more coverage?

Los Angeles, Feb. 25, 2006 – Among a strong field of nominees, Alicia Keys was the big music winner at the NAACP Image Awards, with three nods - for female artist, top song and video. Both Keys and Mariah Carey were each nominated for four awards, and Carey’s Emancipation of Mimi was named best album. Legends Carlos Santana and the Neville Brothers won achievement awards.

Jamie Foxx, who won an Oscar last year, is now looking to conquer the music world. NAACP named him best male musical artist.

It seems that nobody hates Chris Rock since he’s become an adult; his hit TV series, Everybody Hates Chris, got the trophy. TV’s biggest winner was Bernie Mac, whose comedy show took three prizes, for best actor, supporting actress and directing.

Cuba Gooding, Jr. hosted the awards that honor artists of color in movies, television, music and literature. The star turnout included Samuel L. Jackson, Star Jones, Kimberly Elise, India.Arie, Macy Gray, Tyra Banks, Chris Brown and Terrence Howard.

Fashionistas, correct us if we’re wrong, but was Kerry Washington’s dress a more opaque version of the infamous sheer Gaultier that Teri Hatcher wore to the Grammys?

The NAACP Image Awards air March 3, on Fox.

Celebs Frequently, Secretly Fabulous at Mardi Gras
Michael Keaton toasts Mayor Nagin
Elijah Wood & friend
Willie Nelson
Anderson Cooper looks fabulous
Sean Astin tosses his beads
Dan Aykroyd

New Orleans, Feb. 26, 2006 – When we saw a bejeweled Willie Nelson riding down St. Charles Avenue on a float, we figured he was shooting the video for his new gay cowboy song, Cowboys are Frequently, Secretly (Fond of Each Other). Perfect choice - there’s no place gayer than New Orleans, and the storm-savaged city can use a lift.

But this wasn’t a music video; it was Mardi Gras, when everybody’s gay, or at least fabulous. Saturday’s heavy rain wasn’t so fabulous; it delayed the Endymion Parade for a day, and one of the parade’s co-grand marshals, Jim Belushi, had to leave town to be on a film set. Dan Aykroyd was left to lead the bead-throwing himself, with fabulous assistance from CNN hottie Anderson Cooper.

The Bacchus Parade was delayed for an hour when a float hit an overhead cable line, setting off a barrage of “FEMA must be running this” type jokes. But actually, it was Beetle Juice; Michael Keaton, fabulous in a sparkly costume and pearls, paused and toasted New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

Elijah Wood was fabulous, but definitely not gay; he was accompanied by a mystery woman, and they were kissing.

Earl & the Gang Step Out
Jason Lee is overwhelmed with good karma
Jaime Pressly & Eddie Steeples
Jaime Pressly & Nadine Velazquez

Los Angeles, Feb. 23, 2006 – Jaime Pressly sure has been busy lately. The starlet hit the MAGIC fashion industry trade show in Las Vegas this week to show and sell her new line of clothing. But Pressly didn’t display any fatigue on Thursday, when the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – the folks who bring us the Emmy Awards – hosted an evening with My Name is Earl. Earl star Jason Lee was in good spirits, and back at work on the hit series after his bout with chicken pox. Lee wouldn’t comment on whether the chicken pox was karmic retribution; his character on the captivating sitcom tries to make good for his previous misdeeds.

Also on hand were Earl cast mates Ethan Suplee, Eddie Steeples and Nadine Velazquez.
