Big Momma Goes Hollywood, Again
Andy Dick, left, & actor Joel Moore, right, give Zachary Levi a lift
Martin Lawrence, Nia Long & Chloe Moretz, center, enjoy lots of big momma love

Los Angeles, Jan. 25, 2006 – We’re surprised that the studio didn’t push Big Momma’s House 2 into theaters during 2005, in time for Oscar consideration. Oh well, there’s always 2006. The Hollywood premiere was dominated not by Big Momma himself, Martin Lawrence, but by the gaggle of fifty actors decked out in Momma-style housedresses and wigs. Gender flexing comedian Andy Dick is not in the film, but he was right at home, goofing around and even throwing one of the Momma dresses on over his clothes and donning a wig for a few minutes. We asked Zachary Levi, an actor in the movie who was crazily running back and forth, what he was on. “Heroin”, he replied. Then amended, “No, no. That’ll bring you down. Trident White”.

Trump: You're Fliered
Donald Trump launches GoTrump.com

New York, Jan. 24, 2006 – We’ve been wishing that Donald Trump would go away for years now, so we were especially excited to be invited to a press conference at the uber glitzy Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, to hear about GoTrump.com. It turns out The Donald is staying put, but he’s hoping you will go somewhere and add to his fortune while you’re there. Donald Trump has launched a travel site, GoTrump.com. You can book airfares and hotels, and all the things you can book on the many other travel Web sites in that overcrowded genre. Trump’s hair, however, may fly away at any time.

Romijn & O'Connell Together at TCA Tour
Ricardo Chavira & Eva Longoria at ABC TCA party
Rebecca Romijn & Jerry O'Connell at NBC TCA party
Harry Hamlin, Lisa Rinna & Louis van Amstel at ABC
Patricia Arquette at NBC
Rosanna Arquette at ABC
Justin Bartha, Sarah Alexander & Sarah Shahi at NBC

Los Angeles, Jan. 21-22, 2006 – We shlepped over to Pasadena this weekend for the last rounds (finally!) of the Television Critics Association winter press tour, with ABC and NBC closing out the marathon look-see sessions.

Does Rebecca Romijn have two TV series’ on competing networks, we wondered upon encountering her at the NBC bash. We’d just seen her last Monday pushing her upcoming WB drama. Nope, she was there supporting her man, Crossing Jordan’s Jerry O’Connell. “This is his night. I’ve already had mine”, she said. The pair looked very much in love, and Romijn wore a large diamond ring on her finger, so it seems reports of a breakup were false.

There are so many people at these things that they are often preceded by name tags, and at one point, some publicist must have needed a smoke break. Justin Bartha, Sarah Alexander and The L Word’s Sarah Shahi strolled along holding their own signs, airport-driver-style.

We found Arquettes at both network shindigs. Patricia Arquette’s hit show, Medium, is on NBC, while sister Rosanna has a new series for ABC, starting in March.

Lisa Rinna’s Dancing With the Stars partner, Louis van Amstel. looks uncannily like her real-life husband, Harry Hamlin. Anyway, Rinna campaigned, repeatedly telling us, “We need your votes”.

Only a smattering of the Desperate Housewives cast turned up for ABC’s party, but apparently Eva Longoria is turning them all into San Antonio Spurs fans, her boyfriend Tony Parker’s team: Longoria’s on-screen husband, Ricardo Chavira, sported a knit Spurs’ cap.

OAN Messes Up Lohan's & Leto's Method Acting
Lindsay Lohan not thrilled with us on her film set
Lindsay Lohan, left, & Jared Leto, right, complain about photographers to P.A., center
Lindsay Lohan & Jared Leto flubbing their lines

New York, Jan. 20, 2006 – More contention on the set of Chapter 27, this time caused by yours truly here at Open All Night. Barred by police from standing on the public sidewalk outside The Dakota apartment house, the scene of John Lennon’s murder, the subject of the film, someone called in high profile attorney Norman Siegel, former executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, to negotiate. The NYPD relented, and agreed that photographers could approach the movie set in shifts of two at a time. Siegel departed, and we went first. Jared Leto, looking straight at our man, complained to a production assistant that because he’s a method actor, he couldn’t concentrate with the press around. The P.A. told police officers, who made us move. NYPD officers also related that Lindsay Lohan told them that she flubbed her lines because of us. Later, Lindsay smiled and waved to us from across the street.

George "Cannot Tell a Lie" Washington Meets Martha Stewart
George Washington & Martha Stewart bond
Antiques Roadshow's Leslie Keno

New York, Jan. 19, 2006 – Were we the only ones to get the giggles at the Winter Antiques Show opening night, when convicted perjurer Martha Stewart greeted an actor impersonating George Washington, whose motto was "I cannot tell a lie"? The original George Washington never attended, since this is only the 52nd annual Winter Antiques Show. Like Martha, most of the partygoers were big money – financier Steve Schwarzman, socialite Nina Griscom, Chanel honcho Arie Koppelman – or industry insiders like Antiques Roadshow twin brothers Leigh and Leslie Keno. – since tickets to the benefit cost $2,500. You can see these old things for $20 through January 29th.

Television Critics' Winter Break
Kiefer Sutherland & Mary Lynn Rajskub at Fox TCA party
Simon Cowell judges Ryan Seacrest, at left, and Randy Jackson, right, at Fox party
Wentworth Miller breaks out of prison long enough to party with Fox
Michael Ealy at CBS TCA party
Jennifer Love Hewitt at CBS party
Tyler Hilton & Rachel Boston at the WB Network party

Los Angeles, Jan. 16-18, 2006 – As if the ongoing awards show schedule wasn’t frantic enough, the Television Critics Association winter press tour has been going on for almost two weeks. The twice-yearly TCA tours bring journalists together with network executives and talent in a marathon of conferences and schmoozey parties.

Just like your numbing number of cable channels at home, we can’t cover them all, but we hit up as many as possible.

At the WB Network’s party at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena, we couldn’t help thinking about some of the stars’ recent movie roles. One Tree Hill regular Tyler Hilton played the young Elvis Presley in the critically acclaimed, Golden Globe-winning Walk the Line. Supernatural hunk Jared Padalecki had the distinct pleasure of watching Paris Hilton die, (over and over again while they shot the scene), in last summer’s horror flick, House of Wax. Will any acting experience ever thrill him again?

The Fox Network bash the next day in Hollywood was packed with hot stars, including young O.C.ers Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson, and Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. American Idol grouch Simon Cowell clowned around with costars Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, but Paula Abdul couldn’t be there.

Tiny Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewittt was practically engulfed by her billowing gown at CBS’ TCA do on Wednesday. And we had our eyes on the handsome Sleeper Cell star Michael Ealy, but his reputed betrothed, Halle Berry, didn’t show up.

Stay tuned for the rest of the TCA tour.

Tara Subkoff Terrorizes Chubby Jared Leto
Imitation of Christ fashion designer Tara Subkoff has a part in the movie
Jared Leto as Lennon murderer Mark David Chapman

New York, Jan. 17, 2006 – Jared Leto has apparently been following the same diet we have, although the former hottie actor/singer put on his additional weight to play John Lennon assassin Mark David Chapman in the upcoming film, Chapter 27. Lindsay Lohan also stars, but she wasn’t on the Central Park set on Tuesday. However, if label Imitation of Christ stages one of their always star-studded runway shows during New York’s upcoming Fashion Week, expect Leto and Lohan in the front row. That was none other than IOC founder Tara Subkoff pushing a stroller as Leto lurked behind a tree, watching her. This seemed to be Subkoff’s last day of shooting on the film, and the crew gave her a round of applause when she finished her scenes. Subkoff hinted at her last show that she's thinking of going into films.

700 Sundays' Star-Studded L.A. Opening
Anjelica Huston & husband Robert Graham
Jay Leno
Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman

Los Angeles, Jan. 12, 2006 – In between all of the award show hysteria this week, Billy Crystal snuck into L.A., opening his Tony Award-winning one-man show 700 Sundays for a limited run at the Wilshire Theater in Beverly Hills. The play broke box office records on Broadway, and Crystal has taken it to other U.S. cities on the way west. In fact, the show, based on his life, has kept him so busy and emotionally involved that Crystal turned down an offer to host the Oscars on March 5, because of it.

Anjelica Huston, Sally Field, Jay Leno, Danny DeVito, Bob Saget, Bonnie Hunt and Angie Harmon grabbed the chance to see Crystal in action on opening night.
