On the Set of Trust the Man

Are they real? Ellen Barkin checks out Julianne Moore's chest   Julianne Moore cops a feel from Ellen Barkin   Maggie Gyllenhaal & Ellen Barkin kissing

New York, November 16 – The movie Trust the Man stars hunks Billy Crudup and David Duchovny, but the on-set action was all girl-on-girl on Tuesday in the West Village. Julianne Moore and Ellen Barkin felt each other up while Maggie Gyllenhaal looked on. Not wanting to be outdone by brother Jake, who made out with Heath Ledger in the upcoming film Brokeback Mountain, Maggie got personal with Ellen Barkin in this scene. Moore’s husband Bart Freundlich wrote and directed Trust the Man.

Los Angeles, November 15 – Breakng news. A fight broke out at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, where the 2nd annual Vibe awards are now being taped to air Tuesday on UPN. The cause of the fight and the perpetrators are unknown at this time, but our sources say, “Chairs were flying”. Everyone has left. 50 Cent has left. Alicia Keys left, and in place of her scheduled performance, Tyra Banks threw together a fashion show with America’s Top Models ladies. The show is still going on, say our sources, but “All these nobodies are introducing awards.”

Update 8:30 P.M. PT: Tyra Banks, one of the show’s hosts, is leaving, even though the show still has about another hour to go. More news to come.

Update 8:37 P.M. PT - MTV.com reports: During the course of the ceremony Suge Knight got onstage and yelled, "F--- the G-Unit," then allegedly threw insults at the rest of the audience. Shortly afterward a melee ensued; some witnesses say a man with G-Unit's entourage was stabbed, while others say no one was stabbed during the altercation. Members of the audience were maced.

Story still evolving, but Open All Night's operatives at the Vibe Awards report, "This is a lot more fun than the American Music Awards", held the previous night.

Update Nov. 16, 5:30 P.M. PT: A warrant has been issued for the arrest of G-Unit rapper Young Buck, who was seen on videotape stabbing a man at the Vibe Awards. Not fun.

Doggie Bag - The Week's Leftovers

Hilary Duff at Jeep Yappy Hour   Salma Hayek at After the Sunset party   Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Audrey Tautou & Gaspard Ulliel at A Very Long Engagement premiere

Maggie Gyllenhaal & Ed Harris at Paris Review dinner   Gisele Bundchen after a hard day's cement work   Joseph Fiennes at Merchant of Venice premiere

November 6-12 - A bunch of pretty but unfamiliar Hollywood starlets gathered at L.A.’s Century Plaza Hotel for a fashion show, but all of their dates were even cuter. The Fabrese fashion show and Jeep Yappy Hour included a runway show of G.W. Little’s newest designs for canines, and the pups were the real stars here. Rescue organization Amanda Foundation reaped the benefit. Oh, wait a minute, there’s one pretty blonde we recognize, Hilary Duff.

Some cute Europeans invaded Hollywood this week. A Brit named William Shakespeare had a lucky break; they made a movie out of a play he wrote called The Merchant of Venice. The premiere at the ArcLight in Hollywood brought out Will’s homies like Joseph Fiennes. Yank Al Pacino, who plays Shylock, must have been busy fox hunting or something, and didn’t attend.

We guess the French are as concerned about piracy as their American counterparts. Like U.S. films that premiere all over the world to thwart the practice, French flick A Very Long Engagement received the red carpet treatment at Mann’s Chinese Theatre. The delicious Audrey Tautou and Gaspard Ulliel star in the WW1 drama.

One of the things the stars of After the Sunset liked best about shooting the film in the Bahamas was Salma Hayek in a bikini. Unfortunately, it was way too cold at the New York premiere for Salma to model them.

Actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ed Harris joined the literary crowd at the Paris Review Foundation’s annual dinner, reading from honoree William Styron’s works.

Victoria’s Secret models concluded the Angels Across America promotional tour in L.A., at the Grove. Sticking their hands into cement for a VS version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Gisele Bundchen commented, “We’re getting our hands dirty. We’re doing some real work.”

"Out 100" 10th Anniversary Party

Susan Sarandon & Todd Oldham   Marcia Cross accessorized with a price tag   Kelli & Rosie O'Donnell

New York, November 12 – Tom Ford and George Michael were among Out magazine’s list of one hundred people who have helped shape gay culture this year, but the two never made it to the party celebrating the December issue. Among those who were at Capitale for the festivities, the presidential election was one subject still on a lot of minds – including activists Susan Sarandon, Rosie O’Donnell, same-sex-marrying New Paltz, NY Mayor Jason West and fellow Mayor John Shields, of Nyack, who is suing the state of New York in order to marry his same-sex partner.

We tried to keep the conversation on more important things, like fashion and winter vacations, but even actor Alan Cumming slipped in the odd election-related comment here and there. The only sensible one was Marcia Cross, the hot redhead from Desperate Housewives, who waltzed around in a $55,000 white fur coat over a revealing dress. Cross didn't actually tell us the coat's value, but rather delightfully conjured Minnie Pearl, leaving the price tag dangling.
