Legally Blonde 2: Red White & Blonde Premieres

Sally Field at Manhattan premiere   Blonde and pregnant Reese Witherspoon & husband Ryan Phillipe at Manhattan premiere   Luke Wilson at Hamptons premiere

Director Charles Herman-Wurmfeld (r) & Jason Bushman at Manhattan premiere   Reese Witherspoon at Hamptons premiere   Jennifer Coolidge & Bruce Thomas at Manhattan premiere

June 30 - America’s sweetheart Reese Witherspoon reprises her role as a ditzy lawyer in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. The pink puffball of a movie rolled out on the Independence Day weekend, with premieres in both the Hamptons and Manhattan. Witherspoon is visibly pregnant, and she wore a floral print sundress to the screening at the beach resort, and a sophisticated black dress in the city. We were disappointed that she didn’t bring Bruiser, her pet Chihuahua in the film, to either premiere, but she told us that her real-life dog is named Cheech. (Cheech wasn’t there either.) Luke Wilson, who plays the love interest in Blonde 2, is very laid back in person. “Yeah, I like blondes. I don’t discriminate”, he said. Go for it, ladies - he’s single. The film’s director, Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, is not single. He was with his partner, Jason Bushman, and said that just-ended Gay Pride month is great, but he’s proud to be gay every day. Others who came out – bad pun, we know – for some blonde legal wrangling were Sally Field and Jennifer Coolidge, both in the film, plus LeAnn Rimes, Scarlett Johansson, Rose McGowan, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Hilary Swank, Chad Lowe, Eric Roberts, Peter Boyle and Howard Stern.

Gene Simmons Book Party

Paul Shaffer & Cindy Adams   Gene Simmons & Matthew Modine   Cari Modine & Gene Simmons

June 26 – The very day that Cindy Adams printed a not-very-flattering interview with Gene Simmons in her gossip column, she hosted a party at her penthouse apartment for his new book, Sex Money Kiss. The outrageous Kiss rocker looked the gentleman, dressed in pinstriped suit and white shirt with no tie. When Hampton Sheet publisher Joan Jedell told him she’d worn her rock ‘n roller-style sequined jacket in his honor, Simmons replied, “A woman can’t dress for me. A woman dressing for me takes off all of her clothes.” Simmons cringed in embarrassment when the Letterman Show’s Paul Shaffer mentioned Adams’ column, and then matter-of-factly explained how he lies to women, in terms more graphic than we’ll print here. The actor Matthew Modine’s charming wife Cari mentioned Simmons’ tighter-than-necessary grip while the two posed for photos, and added, “He doesn't care that I’m married!” The invitation to the book party was on target, stating, “This book is sure to be gossiped about, and this is a good place to start.”

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle Premiere, Viva Glam Casino Benefit

Drew Barrymore makes an entrance at the Charlie's Angels party   No talking during the movie. Cameron Diaz at the Charlie's Angels premiere   Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore make a run for it at the Charlie's Angels premiere

Lucy Liu at the Charlie's Angels party   Bruce Willis bundles up at the Charlie's Angels premiere   Maggie Rizer at the Viva Glam Casino Diffa benefit

June 25 – Oven-hot New York felt like a slice of heaven at the premiere of the summer blockbuster Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. The movie’s glamorous stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu and costars Luke Wilson and Justin Theroux stopped traffic at the Loews Lincoln Square theater. Handlers warned us that couple of the moment, Demi Moore and her young beau, Ashton Kutcher, wouldn’t stop to talk, but we did get a photo for you. We don't know how Demi’s ex, Bruce Willis, remained so cool wearing a leather jacket and a hat in the wilting heat. Before the screening, Sony America CEO Howard Stringer admitted he hadn’t yet seen the film, but gave us his review: “It’s full of beautiful women. What could be bad?” Drew Barrymore is still wild at heart – she arrived at the after party hanging out of a limousine window, to the delight of fans and the horror of her insurance company.

We sure felt fat amidst the swarm of skinny fashion models at the Viva Glam Casino benefit for AIDS charity Diffa. M.A.C. Cosmetics sponsored the event, and supermodel Maggie Rizer hosted. Rizer said she and her sister grew up accepting that their father was living with AIDS. He lost his battle with the disease eleven years ago. The elegant marble ballroom at the Regent Wall Street hotel was turned into a casino, with gambling proceeds going to the cause. Winners received gifts instead of cash. How’s that for exercising your vice guilt-free?

Court TV Welcomes Karen Duffy

Candace Bushnell & Michael Moore   Karen Duffy with Kool purse   Mo Rocca

June 24 - Karen Duffy sported a purse made entirely from empty Kool cigarette packages at Court TV’s reception welcoming her as host of Hollywood at Large. Duffy explained that the purse is a family heirloom from years back, and whispered that it was made in prison, so she thought it was appropriate to bring to a Court TV event. This is a true Court TV mystery - she implied that perhaps someone in her family had made it. The actress, model and writer’s recent bestselling memoir detailed her experiences as a victim of Sarcoidosis, a rare disease of the central nervous system. Spotted at the party were filmmaker Michael Moore, authors Dominick Dunne and Candace Bushnell, comedian Mo Rocca and Court TV CEO Henry Schleiff.

US Weekly's Hooking Up Party, Entertainment Weekly's It List Party, Audemars Piguet Debuts T3 Watch

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Nick Zinner, Karen*O & Brian Chase at Entertainment Weekly's It party   Arnold Schwarzenegger with T3 watch at Audemars Piguet

Danny Masterson & friend at Entertainment Weekly's It party   Kelly Rowland, Jessica Simpson & Ali Landry at US Weekly's Hooking Up party

June 23 – Singer Jessica Simpson, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child and actress Ali Landry showed us their bras! Sort of. The three joined US Weekly magazine in hosting the “Hooking Up” party at the intimate lounge Serena. The reception featured an exhibition of the stars’ photographs of Lovable Bras, which will benefit a variety of charities.

Not far away, Entertainment Weekly magazine celebrated its second annual “It List ” issue with a bash at mega-club Roxy. “It” types like rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, singers Rufus Wainwright and Vanessa Carlton, actors Ian Somerholder, Alan Cumming, That 70s Show's Danny Masterson
, The Sopranos' Robert Iler, Lou Diamond Phillips and a bunch of others were chauffeured to the event in environmentally correct Toyota Prius’. Pssst – you didn’t hear it from us, but the ladies at the US Weekly party later hopped over to the EW party.

Earlier, Arnold Schwarzenegger turned up for the opening of the new Audemars Piguet boutique, where he auctioned off some of his movie memorabilia to benefit The Inner City Games Foundation, which provides after school activities to inner city children. Arnold said that when he was a kid, his parents were always around to help with homework, and his father was always available for coaching. That gave him the confidence to succeed, and he wants to help other children to get that kind of great foundation. Audemars Piguet produced the new limited edition Terminator 3 Chronograph, so you can get one for yourself or see Arnold wearing his in the film, opening July 2.
