New York, March 10, 2009 –Tom Hanks was low key at the Cinema Society screening of The Great Buck Howard, leaving his son, Colin Hanks, to bask in the spotlight. “I was only on this for really two, three days,” Tom said. “I was an actor for hire for this, I wanted to say my lines and stay out of everybody’s way,” he added. Son Colin co-stars in the movie with John Malkovich, who plays a mentalist. The story is based on the life of The Amazing Kreskin, who told us that the film’s director, Sean McGinly, came up with the idea while working for Kreskin back in the ‘90s. But Kreskin says he’s flattered to have a movie made about him - while he’s still alive. This is a big week for Colin Hanks – he made his Broadway debut just the night before, in 33 Variations. The stage was dark on Tuesday, so co-star Jane Fonda came to check out the movie. After the screening, the cast held court at the Soho Grand Hotel with glittering guests like Emily Blunt, Valentino, Regis and Joy Philbin, Rachel Dratch, Blythe Danner and Debra Winger. |
