New York, March 16, 2009 – After taking some time off to be a mom, Julia Roberts is making a comeback of sorts in the romantic caper Duplicity. At the premiere on Monday, the consensus among her co-stars was that while Anne Hathaway and Reese Witherspoon may be popular and talented actresses, Roberts remains firmly enthroned as America’s sweetheart. “It’s really hard to replace Julia Roberts, I think,” said Carrie Preston, who also worked with Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding. Dennis O’Hare said of Roberts, “Not to diss anybody, but I do think it’s going to be hard for anybody to replace what she does, because she’s got a really interesting combination of wit and grace and intelligence, and obviously, beauty.” And Clive Owen was succinct. “I don’t think anyone’s taken over Julia Roberts’s throne, let me tell you,” he said. Alas, we did not get to discuss this with Julia herself, because she was not quite sweet enough to grant interviews to those of us on the red carpet. |
