New York, October 13, 2008 – While America rested on Monday, courtesy of the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus who “discovered” the Americas, Madonna worked the red carpet at a Cinema Society screening of her directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom.  And though modern-day Itlaian fashion titans Dolce & Gabbana were unable to cross the ocean to join Madonna on her big day, they sent frocks!   Lindsay Lohan, America Ferrera, Brooke Shields and others all wore Dolce & Gabbana, and the designers outfitted Madge in a custom creation.  Six-months pregnant Naomi Watts showed how a Dolce design can work as maternity wear, while Jessica Alba, who gave birth four months ago, is the perfect post-baby model for the label.  Everyone got a first look at the soon-to-open Thompson LES Hotel, which hosted the party after credits rolled.
