New York, March 18, 2008 – Simon Doonan is famous for creating the over-the-top displays in Barney’s windows, but he outdid himself on Tuesday when Madison Avenue passersby stopped to gawk at Donatella Versace behind the plate glass. The stunt was part of a launch party for Versace’s menswear line. After a short while, Donatella popped out of the window, and came out onto the sidewalk and stood while photographers and passing tourists snapped away. Inside, at the party in Barney’s men’s department, the Italian fashion princess was gracious, greeting her guests, who included Woody Allen and his wife Soon-Yi, who, everyone noticed, looked quite tired, despite her youth. Donatella said that earlier in the day she’d slipped into a movie theater to see Atonement. Photo: Caroline Torem Craig |
