New York, February 7, 2008 – Calvin Klein showed its Fall/Winter ’08 collection on Thursday, and later that night, Liv Tyler hosted a celebratory dinner at the exclusive Waverly Inn. While it’s impossible for mere mortals to get into Graydon Carter’s eatery, this bunch – which included Kate Hudson, Julianne Moore, Ali Larter and Helena Christensen – surely all have the Waverly’s private phone number on speed dial. Calvin Klein women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa was surrounded by adoring, chicly-attired admirers like the above-named stars, but for once, the fashion house’s menswear honcho, Italo Zucchelli had an equally gorgeous slew of famous men looking great in his designs. Hockey pro Sean Avery, who had been a no-show at every show we’d attended all week long, finally turned up for Calvin, along with his teammate Brendan Shanahan. Eric Dane, who’s been McSteaming up fashion week, declined to reveal his plans for Valentine’s Day while wife Rebecca Gayheart was in earshot. “It’s top secret at this point. Let’s not blow it”, Dane said. Alan Cumming grew a beard for his role in a Chekhov play. “Everyone Russian has a beard, apparently”, he said. Cumming is getting used to the beard. “I quite like it. I like transforming myself, and I hate shaving”, he told us. His husband, Grant Shaffer has gotten used to it, too. “He didn’t like it at first, but once it got over the prickly stage, you know, he likes it", Cumming said.
