New York, February 13, 2008 – “I guess you’re all here to see me”, quipped U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, to a roomful of reporters awaiting the arrival of Bono at the organization’s Manhattan headquarters on Wednesday. And without further ado, the U2 frontman and activist entered, shook hands with Ban, and posed for photos. Signing the U.N. guest register, Bono seemed to draw a picture of some kind, and afterward said, “I just put graffiti in the official U.N. book!” The visit was more than social – Ban and Bono discussed climate change, global health issues and progress on the U.N. Millennium Goals. |
