Los Angeles, January 27, 2008 – With the writers’ strike casting uncertainty over award season in Hollywood, the SAG Awards drew a lot of stars to the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday. If the Oscars ceremony is scuttled by the strike, this might be the only chance actors get to shine and preen on a red carpet this season. Even the weather was undecided as folks strolled the red carpet on Sunday, alternating between driving rain and sunny skies. While there were some prominent no-shows, including George Clooney and Katherine Heigl, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie signed autographs, and the reclusive Julie Christie turned up to pick up her SAG award. Tom Cruise and John Travolta both participated in the show, but skipped the red carpet hoopla. Kate Hudson was amused at the pandemonium that erupted when she and Matthew McConaughey arrived in the backstage press room. “Wow! I’m not even pregnant with his baby”, Hudson quipped. The two costar in the upcoming movie Fool’s Gold, and McConaughey is expecting a child with his girlfriend Camila Alves. |
