Des Moines, Iowa, Dec. 31, 2007 – Jan. 2, 2008 – We crisscrossed the state of Iowa following the presidential hopefuls and their celebrity supporters in the days leading up to the political caucuses.

Hillary Clinton had no trouble rounding up some famous supporters at her New Year’s Eve bash at Capitol Square in Des Moines – husband Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea didn’t have to be coerced into shaking hands and making resolutions. 

Mike Huckabee welcomed 2008 with a New Year’s day concert – onstage, playing bass guitar alongside MSNBC TV personality Joe Scarborough.  As if our hangovers weren’t bad enough, Chuck Norris and his wife danced onstage while Huckabee’s wife Janet clapped along enthusiastically.  These Republicans certainly know how to get down. 

The next day at the very same venue, the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, another rock star, John Mellencamp, took the stage in support of John Edwards.  Edwards’ wife Elizabeth clapped along, and Desperate Housewives star James Denton looked confused.
