New York, January 16, 2008 – Our big disappointment at Chanel Fine Jewelry’s Night of Diamonds dinner was that we didn’t get to ask Barbara Bush which presidential candidate she’s backing, but the First Daughter didn’t want to talk to reporters.  Ah well, partygoers attired in black and white couldn’t wait to get a look at the newly refurbished Plaza Grand Ballroom, which was done up with one-of-a-kind diamond pieces showcased amidst a forest of black and gold branches.  Christy Turlington recalled her mother and grandmother bringing her to tea at the famed Plaza.  “I can’t wait to do that with my daughter, because she’s now of age that she can enjoy that kind of thing”, the supermodel told us.  Gossip Girl star Blake Lively admitted to having a bit of a problem with Chanel.  “I have a few purses and a lot of shoes”, she said.   “It’s a bit of an addiction.” We almost didn’t recognize Ellen Pompeo, who turned up at the party with a new shorter, wavy hairdo.
