New York, December 2, 2007 – Madonna put her mega fame to good use, helping her husband Guy Ritchie to promote the newly re-edited version of his poorly-reviewed 2005 film Revolver at a Cinema Society screening on Sunday night.  And the charismatic superstar drew a big crowd of celebrities to the Tribeca Grand Hotel’s screening room, despite freezing temperatures and the season’s first snowfall. 

An excited Liza Minnelli told us, “I have been rehearsing all day long, so I changed clothes quickly and jumped down here.”  Josh Groban has met the Material Girl before.  “We met on a music video shoot. She’s very nice”, he told us.  The down-to-earth Groban’s newest album made the top of the charts this week.  “That’s crazy”, he said. “It was a nice surprise for me, especially because it had already been out for about six weeks before it went number 1”. 

Ritchie did not necessarily think that critics were unjustified in panning the film the first time around.  “I don’t think they [critics] liked it”, he admitted before the screening.  Afterward, he thanked the crowd for coming, and said, “By the way, this is the first time that I understood the movie.” 

Sarah Jessica Parker, Steve Buscemi, Rachel Dratch, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Barbara Walters were among the celebs who joined Guy and Madonna and Revolver stars Jason Statham and Vincent Pastore later at a dinner at the Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop.
