New York, November 5, 2007 – Accessories really took center stage at the 11th Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards.  Seriously, it was all about accessories.  In fact, everyone was so obsessed with choosing shoes, handbags and jewelry that nobody at Michael Kors’ office noticed that both Deborah Norville, who hosted the event, and Jessica Simpson, who presented an award, chose the same exact dress to wear to the same event.  A fashion event, no less!  Does it get any more embarrassing?

Well, yes, it did for Jessica Simpson, who, when she arrived at Cipriani 42nd Street, stepped out of her car and promptly got the heel of her Jessica Simpson shoe caught in a grate on the sidewalk and almost fell over. 

It was a tough night for Simpson, a former ACE Award winner, and after a few moments’ insecurity about the duplicate dress faux pas, she decided to tough it out rather than rush home to change.  A brave soul, indeed. 

This year, awardees included Marc Jacobs, Heidi Klum, Tory Burch and fashion editor Glenda Bailey.  Lucy Liu accepted an award on behalf of Italian fashion designer Valentino.
