New York, October 31, 2007 – There were too many celebrity-packed Halloween parties to count in New York on Wednesday, but we made it to several and have the hangovers to prove it. At the annual Hulaween Ball, Bette Midler raised over $1 million for her New York Restoration Project with help from Susie Essman, who ran the tree auction from the stage while Bette walked right up to tables and encouraged attendees like Martha Stewart and Glenn Close to bid by saying things like, “Come on you stingy motherf#$%ers!”. Sheryl Crow wore a police officer’s hat during her rocking set that she said she borrowed off of a guest sitting in front of the stage. Over at the benefit bash at Cipriani, host Roberto Cavalli, dressed as Karl Lagerfeld, dodged reporters’ questions about his inadvertently spilling the beans on J. Lo’s pregnancy: “Why you want to ask me about J. Lo? We are in Halloween!” he said. “I have no idea if she’s pregnant.” Eve came in street clothes, and changed into costume for her performance. Jeff Gordon said his pirate outfit was his wife Ingrid’s idea. “She wanted me to be a pirate. It may be something about Johnny Depp. She’s going home with Johnny tonight!” Gordon said. Standouts at Gemma Ward’s Imperia Vodka party at Gramercy Park Hotel included Chloe Sevigny as Joan of Arc, and Josh Hartnett as Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan in the biopic I’m Not There.
