New York, October 17, 2007 – More than a month after fashion week (and after weeks of European shows) Hugo Boss inexplicably decided to hold its BOSS Black Spring/Summer ’08 fashion show in New York in mid-October.  The show was at the beautiful, ornate Cunard Building in lower Manhattan, and beautiful movie stars Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore and Maggie Gyllenhaal turned the front row into perhaps the ultimate power-mommy clique.  Kristin Davis thought it was fun to attend an off-season fashion show.  “I love that they’re trying to do something different”, she said.

At the end of the presentation, models in French maids’ uniforms wheeled hors d’oeuvre-and-champagne-laden serving carts down the runway, signaling that the massive party was to start.  We cornered Joan Jett in the cavernous, dimly lit space, and she couldn’t choose only one favorite article of clothing: “Either my leather jacket or a favorite pair of jeans.  Or my Fry boots!  I mean, you know, that could be three things”, the rocker mused.  As we spoke, live music began to trill, and we turned to find Woody Allen up on the stage, playing clarinet with his New Orleans jazz band.
