New York, September 4, 2007 – Jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels launched New York fashion week on Tuesday with a star-studded "Journey through Paris"-themed party complete with a fashion show and topless (female) dancers. These weren’t go-go dancers, but rather Folies Bergère-style dancing girls. Ogling the dancers (and the fashions, of course) were Mischa Barton, Marcia Gay Harden and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Demi Moore dropped in late, but where was Ashton, who’s been shooting a movie in town? Ashley Olsen entered the theater lobby and looked absolutely shocked to see a line of photographers staring at her; she grimaced, ducked her head and dashed by. Singer Eve accessorized her short black dress with red Alexander McQueen pumps and her DUI-related ankle monitor. Food and Champagne never stopped flowing all evening, despite the hundreds of guests packing the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. An art installation and display of one-of-a-kind jewelry off the crowded main floor made for a quiet respite. All-girl French band The Plastiscines closed the massive party with a rocking, fully-clothed set. |
