New York, September 7, 2007 – Dressmaker to the stars Roberto Cavalli and his wife Eva hosted a party during fashion week to launch their Manhattan Just Cavalli store, but it wasn’t only a fashion crowd that turned out. Jennifer Lopez wanted to support the designer, with whom she’s had a long relationship. The actress, wearing a flowing print frock and floppy hat, said that Cavalli’s creations are “feminine, beautiful things; sexy things that still have a little bit of an edge.” Nicky Hilton stopped by the packed Fifth Avenue boutique despite being visibly tired from planning her own fashion show, due to hit the runway two days later. “I’m very nervous. I’m exhausted. I had no idea what I was in for”, she confided. What brought Joshua Jackson to the party? “My beautiful girlfriend”, he told us, nodding at Diane Kruger nearby. She was in Cavalli, but Jackson was not. “As you can see, I’m not so much the fashionista”, the actor said. The party was overcrowded and the air conditioning couldn’t keep up, but for the most part the guests, including Ashlee Simpson, Mena Suvari, Mary J. Blige, Jane Krakowski and rocker Steven Tyler, stayed awhile to nosh and sip. Jessica Simpson, however, didn't stay very long. She turned up quite late – Mr. Cavalli had even left by then – and posed for photos, and then got back in her car and drove off. |
