Los Angeles, September 16, 2007 – It was Oscar déjà vu on Sunday as Helen Mirren dominated the primetime Emmy Awards (but at least she didn’t play a queen in the Prime Suspect TV series), and Al Gore added hot air to the show. And just as a slew of Westerns are hitting movie theaters this fall, AMC’s Broken Trail and HBO’s Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee each took multiple Emmy awards.

A smattering of music and movie personalities – Kanye West, Queen Latifah, Tony Bennett and Michelle Pfeiffer - joined the small screen set for TV’s big night, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, self-described “full service host”.  The Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco was virtually ignored on the red carpet thanks to poor timing - a visibly pregnant Christina Aguilera immediately preceded her and hogged all the attention.

Backstage in the press room, when someone asked Jon Stewart how many Emmys he’s won, the Daily Show comic modestly estimated ten - by holding up ten fingers - and then cracked that he’d melt the statuettes down to make his own Oscar.

Later in the evening, everyone made the obligatory rounds at the many after parties.  In the wee hours of the morning as she left TV Guide’s party at Les Deux, Melinda Clarke snipped at the paparazzi, “I must not be Lindsay Lohan because you’re not taking my picture!”
