New York, August 9, 2007 – Even after a decade in show business, Rescue Me star Callie Thorne was starstruck working with rocker Elvis Costello in the movie Delirious. “He was really funny”, Thorne told us at a Gen Art screening on Thursday at Tribeca Grand Hotel. “It was hard for me not to laugh – or cry, because I was like, ‘It’s Elvis Costello! Oh my god!’ He was amazing!” But perhaps Costello had his own self-confidence issues. “He was, like, faking like he was really nervous”, Thorne said, and then reconsidered. “Maybe he wasn’t faking it; maybe he was nervous.” Costello didn’t make it to the screening, nor did costar Michael Pitt, the moody indie actor who memorably brooded in the nude in 2003’s The Dreamers. But Pitt had to lighten up for Delirous. “The toughest thing was to get him just to relax and have some fun”, said director Tom DiCillo. Pitt’s mentor in Delirious is a paparazzo played by Steve Buscemi, who revealed his method of avoiding the pesky camera-toting stalkers. “Well, I have killed one [paparazzo] before, but it’s probably better if I don’t talk about that one”, Buscemi said. “But I usually don’t get followed; I guess you kill one, and then they stop following you.” See more of our reporting from the Delirious screening on TheReeler.com |
