August 16, 2007 – We don’t know why they all chose the same day, but on Thursday Beyonce Knowles, Amanda Bynes and Paris Hilton all appeared in (different) stores to push products they’re endorsing. The Manhattan Mall was packed bright and early Thursday morning, and Amanda Bynes walked through the crowd, greeting fans before entering the Steve & Barry’s store to unveil her new clothing line, Dear. The Hairspray star had already launched the affordably priced label at a party the previous week, and that was lucky, because we had to dash across the street to Macy’s, where Beyonce Knowles was set to appear as the new spokesmodel for Emporio Armani Diamonds fragrance. Thousands of people waited in the massive store’s main floor, hoping for a glimpse of the pop star, and a couple of hundred lined up for her signature; the first person in line had gotten to Macy’s at 3 A.M.! As Beyonce gamely stood on a short flight of stairs, some folks in the crowd snickered and wondered aloud if she’d fall – recalling her recent mid-concert tumble, clips of which were a huge hit on YouTube.com. Knowles remained upright, and thanked everyone for coming. “I’m so proud of this fragrance, and there are so many people that came out to support. It’s a little overwhelming for me!” she said. Meanwhile, even after completing a prison sentence on DUI-related charges, the LAPD still seems to consider Paris Hilton a threat to public safety. Hordes of officers and an intimidating fleet of police vehicles closed off part of Robertson Blvd. when the heiress launched her eponymous clothing line at Kitson. However, Paris’ fans aren’t afraid of her, and hundreds swarmed around the trendy boutique to support the former inmate. |
