San Diego, CA July 1, 2007 - EXCLUSIVE – Tween pop music phenomenon Miley Cyrus’ in-store appearance at a San Diego Wal-Mart on Sunday was a last-minute affair, and not widely advertised – two radio ads, a poster in the store window the day before and a notice on her Web site for one day was about it. And still, over 3,000 kids showed up as early as 3 A.M., and waited in scorching heat until noon, when the Hannah Montana star arrived. Miley tried to accommodate as many of her fans as possible, signing CDs as fast as she could, and even extending the session one hour, until 4 P.M. The store sold almost all of its 4,500 copies of her new CD, "Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus”, and had someone continuously stocking shelves with other Miley/Hannah merchandise all day. The red and black wall spelling out “Hannah” was made from 12-packs of Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero. Miley had flown by helicopter to San Diego the night before to introduce the Jonas Brothers concert. The Disney Channel queen made it a girls-only weekend, bringing along mom Trish and little sister Noah. After the Wal-Mart event, the three rented a convertible and drove home to L.A. along the scenic California coast.
