New York, June 10, 2007 – We at OAN didn’t even think about the Tony Soprano vs. Tony Awards conflict on Sunday; we were sequestered from morning to night at Radio City, hunkered down with all the stars celebrating Broadway’s big night.

Duncan Sheik, the reluctant composer of Spring Awakening, admitted that he was nervous. “I’m super nervous; I’m very freaked out” the pop musician said before the ceremony. “And I can’t stand having to talk in front of large crowds. It’s a strange kind of torture.” To relax, Sheik said he had a massage. “It’s a little naughty”, he added.

Everyone wondered whether the very pregnant Naomi Watts would accompany Tony-nominated fiance Liev Schreiber; she did, and was absolutely beaming (in a Vera Wang frock) as they walked the red carpet arm in arm. Claire Danes avoided an awkward meeting with her ex, Billy Crudup, but she didn’t move fast enough, and someone stepped on her dress on the red carpet.

After taking the Tony for actress in a musical, Grey Gardens “cat lady” Christine Ebersole told us how she dealt with the pressure in the weeks leading up to the awards. “There was a great thing that happened to me about five weeks ago", she said. "We found four newborn kittens underneath the neighbor’s deck; they still had their umbilical cords on them. Two of them passed away, but two of them survived, and they’re now six weeks old”, Ebersole said. “So I thought it was a wonderful thing to happen, because it really took the attention off of this other thing that was happening. And all I really cared about was whether their bottoms were wiped and whether they got enough milk. So I think it was nice to have that kind of reality check.”

David Hyde Pierce, visibly stunned at taking the Tony for best actor in a musical, said afterward, “I’m completely surprised.”

Eddie Izzard, who presented on the show, revealed why he hasn’t joined his Ocean’s Thirteen costars on the press tour: “I’m not on the publicity, but I insisted it be that way, you know, because I don’t want to swamp the guys”.

Other presenters hung out in the On 3 Gift Suite, conveniently located right behind the stage. Felicity Huffman picked up Nivea Q10 moisturizer for her husband, Bill Macy, and a Kumi Kookoon silk comforter for her bed. Huffman is sticking to the registry for Eva Longoria's wedding gift, though. Her soon-to-be married Desperate Housewives costar's list includes the usual things, Huffman said. "You know, wife stuff. Celebrities need place settings as well. Isn’t that weird?”

Zach Braff did not take any women’s items in the gift suite – he said that he’s sadly single at the moment. Not so for Usher, who looked on eagerly as his fiancée, Tameka Foster, held up lacy black Chantelle lingerie.
