New York, June 7, 2007 – Cartier raised over $1 million dollars for charity with its Love bracelet last year, and the luxury jeweler celebrated a new fundraising effort this year with a cocktail party at its Fifth Avenue flagship. The clever campaign donates proceeds from sales toward worthy causes designated by prominent folks, who turned up dripping in borrowed Cartier jewels at the swanky party. Julianne Moore figures that her long diamond earrings would probably cost as much as her kids' college education. Usher coveted the diamond Cartier watch on his wrist. “This is actually the only one in the country. I don’t own it yet. I’m working on it. I figure if I do it justice tonight, make it look really good, maybe they’ll give me a great price”, the singer said. Rachel Weisz showed us the Cartier panther brooch on her dress, “The head moves, which is pretty unbelievable”, she said, demonstrating. Why did she choose that piece? “I used to drive a Jag”, the British actress said. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw came to New York especially to attend the Cartier bash. McGraw even wore some jewelry of his own. “I like the bling every now and then”, the country star confided. Debra Messing chose emeralds for the evening because it’s her favorite stone. “What better opportunity than to say to Cartier, you know what, send over a boulder of emeralds for me.” When someone asked her about Paris Hilton being released from prison after only three days, Messing quipped, “Already? Well, let’s see if they do that for [Scooter] Libby.” |
