New York, May 4, 2007 – We asked America Ferrera, star of the hilarious Ugly Betty, what it was like shooting a serious role in the kidnapping drama Hacia La Oscuridad (Towards Darkness), which was screened as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. “I really remember that it was very hot in Panama, [where the film was shot] and I was always very physically uncomfortable because I was sweating all the time. The humidity is ridiculous.”, the California native said. “And then, I was always having to do very emotional scenes, so I think the discomfort just added to that. I was probably really in tears.” Handsome costar Roberto Urbina developed a similar impression of Panama: “Hot and humid”. We had to ask if Ferrera was funny on the set. “She’s very funny. There were a couple of scenes where we had to stop, from laughing”, Urbina said. Who on the Ugly Betty set cracks up America Ferrera the most? “Well, I can’t really work with Ana Ortiz without laughing. Like, it’s impossible”, she told us. “I can watch the scenes and tell that I’m about to laugh, and it’s embarrassing. She cracks me up all the time.” |
