New York, April 17, 2007 – Naomi Campbell declined interviews with the press at Tuesday’s Cipriani Wall Street benefit concert, but when introducing headliners The Pussycat Dolls, she admonished the crowd, “I advise you all to please put your phones away, off the table, where I can’t get to them”. The scantily-clad Dolls didn’t disappoint – folks addicted to their reality show were ecstatic, claiming that the live performance, which went on for an hour, far exceeded the level of excellence presented on television. The Pussycats brought out Snoop Dogg to end their set by singing their hit collaboration, “Buttons”. Snoop then surprised us by sticking around and doing his own set, which brought down the house. The rich people in the audience – tables for the whole concert series cost $100,000 – were on their feet from the moment Snoop began, and no one in the room sat back down again. Arms were in the air and people hooted when Snoop chanted, “Somebody say ho!” while singing 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P.”, and they loved some other stuff he said that we can’t print here. Snoop closed his set with an expletive-laden version of his song, “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”, and if you couldn’t understand the words, he wore giant diamond-encrusted brass knuckles on his fingers that spelled out “Snoop Dogg”. |
