New York, March 20, 2007 – Comic Adam Sandler takes on a dramatic role in Reign Over Me, playing a man who lost his family in the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York. Don Cheadle plays his former college roommate in the film, and the premiere took place, appropriately, at Sandler’s alma mater, New York University.

How did they keep things light on the set of this sad tale? “Adam farted a lot”, Saffron Burrows said. “And Don played guitar very badly – electric bass; I think he plays bass”, she added. Cheadle concurred, “We just had a ball. Adam’s very musical; he’s a really good guitar player. And I mess around on about six or seven different things.”

Liv Tyler plays a psychiatrist in the movie; in real life, she would diagnose Sandler’s condition as “extra cute”. Liv’s extra cute husband, musician Royston Langdon, was roaming around the red carpet.

Will Smith popped by the premiere to support his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who is in Reign Over Me. We asked Jada if Will keeps the family laughing around the house, when cameras are not rolling. “Absolutely. All the time. That’s the only reason I could be married to him for ten years. He keeps me laughing”, she said.
