Los Angeles, February 3, 2007 – We’re used to seeing young actress Leelee Sobieski dressed in sober black suits or jeans, and apparently so is Steve Martin. The Eyes Wide Shut ingénue wore a tight-fitting, daringly cleavage-baring dress to the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday, prompting Martin to quip, “I’ve been trying to convince LeeLee Sobieski that the best way to remove double stick tape is with saliva”. And there you have your red carpet dressing tip from Steve Martin. Another Martin – Scorsese – made the big news of the evening, by finally scoring his first DGA award, for The Departed. Scorsese seemed genuinely shocked to receive the honor; perhaps because he’d been nominated seven times before, but never won. Hit TV series Ugly Betty took a directing award, as did 24 and Disney’s High School Musical. Also on hand at the Century Plaza Hotel for the gala: Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg, America Ferrera, Felicity Huffman, Jennifer Hudson and Aaron Eckhart. |
