Los Angeles, February 5, 2007 – “I never thought I’d be taking a picture with a naked man”, lesbian songsmith Melissa Etheridge said as she stood next to the larger-than-life version of the Oscar statue at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Academy Award nominee was at the annual Oscar luncheon, where all of the nominees, from sound engineers to leading ladies, drop their competitive defenses and break bread together.

So we paid attention to how other stars interacted with the naked golden guy. Jada Pinkett Smith put her hand in its leg, while hubby Will Smith put his arm around those golden globes. Shy Leo DiCaprio just sort of stood next to the statue awkwardly, hands in pockets. Eddie Murphy held tight onto girlfriend Tracy Edmonds, so as not to be photographed alone with the naked man. Kate Winslet didn't even show up for the luncheon.

Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren, Clint Eastwood, Djimon Hounsou and Penelope Cruz simply behaved like true movie stars, standing in front of the thing, completely blocking it out of the frame.
