New York, December 10, 2006 – Apparently, Renee Zellweger thought she was just going to the movies on Sunday evening. Despite the big red carpet setup for the premiere of Miss Potter, Zellweger approached the Directors’ Guild of America Theater on foot, having gotten out of a car, unnoticed, somewhere along West 57th Street. The movie star walked up and headed for the theater’s door, where she was waylaid by publicists, and gently shoved into the media’s glare. But first, she stopped to greet fans, and waved at mystified passengers on a passing MTA bus. Having stayed out of the limelight for a while now, Zellweger flirted with the media, and surprised us by turning on her thick Texas twang. The Bridget Jones star reprises a British accent in Miss Potter, but she’s Texas born and raised. Emily Watson's and Ewan McGregor’s British accents weren’t put on. Why was McGregor wearing those spats-like shoes? “They’re just shoes”, he said. Happily, even though the New York Observer is cutting costs by reducing the newspaper’s size, owner Jared Kushner hasn't yet slashed the party budget; the salmon-colored weekly sponsored the premiere and after party at The Grand. |
