Los Angeles, December 9-10, 2006 – KROQ-FM’s two-day Almost Acoustic Christmas concert extravaganza was, well, less than acoustic, but still lots of fun. Twenty popular acts - including Panic! at the Disco, Beck, The Raconteurs, My Chemical Romance, AFI, Incubus, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol – pleased the Gibson Amphitheater crowd with 30-40 minute sets of their most popular songs. What’s not to like? Many wore holiday-themed costumes, including Jared Leto, who, after his set with 30 Seconds to Mars, jumped into the audience to watch the rest of the show. Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse were in full Santa regalia, with the rest of the group dressed as elves, so Cee-Lo dubbed the ensemble “Dirty Santa and the Ho Ho Hos.” Juliette Lewis came on Sunday to see fellow Scientologist Beck perform. Ubiquitous party girl Lindsay Lohan came out on both nights. She missed Fall Out Boy’s gig on Saturday, so just greeted Pete Wentz backstage, and left after 10 minutes. On Sunday, we spotted her backstage again, intermittently text-messaging and dancing to The Killers' set. Topher Grace haughtily told our photographer, “I’m not doing photos tonight”. |
