New York, November 14, 2006 – The musical Chicago celebrated ten years on Broadway with a one-off performance by a slew of celebrities who have graced the show in the past. Chita Rivera opened, and Brooke Shields and Rita Wilson followed soon after. Melanie Griffith did a number, and hubby Antonio Banderas cheered her on from the audience. We started to wonder if we had failed to recognize Ashlee Simpson, who just completed a stint in the London production, but our radar was still working – Ashlee came onstage at the very end of the show. And she wasn’t bad! Every time Lynda Carter was on the stage, we mistook her for Catherine Zeta-Jones, who played Velma Kelly in the movie version. We didn’t mention our stupidity to anyone, but did feel better after another reporter chased Lynda on the red carpet, thinking she was CZJ! They really look alike. The show was great, the celebs all said they had fun, and most stuck around for the massive after party, but it was all for a good cause – the one-time performance raised $1.2 million for Safe Horizon |
