New York, October 5, 2006 – We had all of our “singular sensation” and “T&A” jokes ready for A Chorus Line’s Broadway reopening, but, well, it was pretty brilliant the first time around, winning a Pulitzer Prize and all, so we’ll let theatergoers decide whether the musical is fresh again. The opening night crowd for the show about show business was pure…showbiz. The original production ran for so long that 73-year-old Joan Rivers must have been a mere girl when it debuted on Broadway. And Joan’s face is still amazingly unwrinkled today. Without her famous lineage, Liza Minnelli would have lived the story of a struggling singer/dancer. Sarah Jessica Parker left her Broadway star husband at home, but had the company of Rosie O’Donnell, Sandra Bernhard, designer Michael Kors and Marvin Hamlisch. |
