East Hampton, NY, July 29, 2006 – Some of our wealthier friends got to spend the weekend at the beach in the chic Hamptons. So naturally, to relax, they took in all the celeb parties and dutifully reported back to us. The most chaotic had to be the shopping extravaganza Super Saturday, an annual benefit at which fashion designers sell their megabuck duds for less, driving celebrities into a buying frenzy – for a good cause. This year the heat was almost as dazzling as the bargains. Hosts Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa and In Style’s Charla Lawton drew Carrie Lowell, Molly Sims, Christy Turlington and Oprah’s non-girl-crush, Gayle King. Long Island queens Dina and Ali Lohan, Samantha Cole and Beth Ostrosky pawed the merchandise. The View's Barbara Walters and Joy Behar studiously avoided ousted co-star Star Jones Reynolds. Star was more discreet at the Art for Life Seventh Heaven benefit: she actually hid from the cameras. (Meanwhile, where was Al Reynolds?) The event was at the East Hampton estate of Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons, and the couple had a good-natured spat: Russell wanted everyone to wear blue, but Kimora insisted on wearing pink – and pink won. At the launch of Gold Peak Iced Tea at the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge, Heather Graham got cold feet when it came time to toss out the opening ball. Christina Applegate and Chloe Sevigny cooled off from watching the ponies in the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 lounge.
