New York, August 16 – “You’re all going to have to move”, a rep declared to a gaggle of reporters waiting for Paris Hilton at the nightclub Marquee on Wednesday night. “We’re going to do Paris in the corner”, the man said, oblivious to the laughter that erupted. Accompanied by some photographers, he was setting up a photo op at the newly-minted pop singer’s record release party. There was no rush: Paris arrived at the club at midnight, two hours late. She sported her latest ladylike look in a knee-length polka-dotted dress complete with hair band and patent leather belt; a look that, we realized, is somewhat unusual for a wannabe pop star who said she is planning a world tour. Paris wore a different, but still demure, dress earlier in the evening at a Manhattan record store appearance, where she kept fans waiting for about an hour. The party was packed, and instead of dancing and mingling, the crowd surrounded the DJ booth, camera phones in the air, to gawk at Paris gyrating and lip-synching to her music. The heiress took the mic and thanked everyone for coming, and said, “You’re all very sexy." Alas, we weren't sexy enough for Paris to buy us drinks; the party featured a cash bar. The album, called “Paris”, is in stores on August 22. |
