New York, July 5, 2006 – There was a little screening of A Scanner Darkly at Lincoln Center on Wednesday, and the big surprise was Keanu Reeves, who was not originally slated to attend. Reeves – who never talks to reporters, so we can’t tell if he’s deep, or just vapid – did sign autographs for fans, who were too busy swooning to ask questions. Robert Downey Jr. was animated, running back and forth for photographers. He challenged a reporter who asked about his clothing: “You figure it out”, Downey said, holding up his jacket lapel for closer inspection. (The inscription on the crest was “DG”, so we’ll go with Dolce & Gabbana.) Downey brought his wife, Susan Levin, and his sister, Allyson, but we did not ask what designers they were wearing! Ethan Hawke lent his presence to the festivities – and only his presence, as he didn’t say a word. Our buddies over at The Reeler summed it up: “Scowling Hawke”, they called him. This is a slow news week, and with Robert Downey Jr. getting all sartorial on us, we’ll ask something that’s been on our minds for quite a while: What is with Keanu Reeves’ shoes? Every time we see him, he’s wearing beat up shoes that don’t match his clothing. |
