New York, July 8, 2006 – Our favorite New York flea market, Broadway
Barks, where you can pick up an adoptable dog or cat while mingling with
Broadway’s biggest stars, was on Saturday afternoon. The day is
always a lot of fun; so much so that Bebe Neuwirth claimed
that if the organizers don’t call her to attend, she calls them.
Animal lovers Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler
Moore host the event, now in its eighth year, to raise funds
for New York City animal shelters. Moore said that if the handsome host
of The Planet’s Funniest Animals, Keegan-Michael
Key, lived in New York City, she’d be his stalker. Broadway
Barks offers stellar celebrity-watching - Georgia Engel,
Sutton Foster, Nellie McKay and Lucy
Arnaz were there - but of course the hard part is resisting the
temptation to take home an entire menagerie from among the adorable critters
in Shubert Alley.
