New York, June 5, 2006 – Tommy Hilfiger continued to hug it out with his sparring partner Axl Rose by wearing a Guns N’ Roses t-shirt to the 2006 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards gala. Truly, Hilfiger has a great sense of PR – er, humor.

The other shocker of the evening was Janet Jackson’s unannounced attendance. And she really does look great in person. We didn’t find out all of Janet’s workout and diet secrets, because she refused to say a word to any reporter, as usual.

Someone asked Jeremy Piven what qualifies him to host a fashion awards gala. “Absolutely nothing. I have no qualifications whatsoever. I am viciously under qualified”, he replied. He’s not even qualified to dress himself for the evening. “Calvin Klein came over to my home to dress me”, Piven said, and then backtracked, “Not himself; not Calvin himself.”

Lindsay Lohan presented an award with her new BFF Karl Lagerfeld. Jessica Simpson brought her current (only?) BFF Ken Paves.

Nanny Diaries co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Alicia Keys both joined the party, but as guests of different designers. Sean “Diddy” Combs didn’t have any duties at the dinner, he was just there for fun, but he made sure to tell us that he’d already won a CFDA award.

Heidi Klum, Chloe Sevigny, Kerry Washington, Sandra Oh, Harry Connick, Jr. and Terrence Howard also attended.
