Los Angeles, June 22, 2006 – Gosh, it sure looked like The Devil Wears Prada is a big deal in L.A., judging by the thousands endlessly trekking down the red carpet at the West Coast premiere. But, it turned out, this was the opening night selection for the L.A. Film Festival, and apparently, anyone who has anything to do with a movie in the fest is invited.

L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa caught up with Devil star Anne Hathaway, and attempted to arrange a photo op, but her reps wanted no parts of it, and pulled her away. Star Meryl Streep, of course, can do whatever she wants, and she opted out of the opening night.
