Los Angeles, April 26, 2006 – We got all of our magazine reading done on Wednesday, what with Vanity Fair’s party in New York, and US Weekly’s Hot Hollywood party in L.A. both on the same day. And the contrasts between the two were clichéd – suits, power and money in cold, gray New York, vs. skin, sex and young(er) hotness in warm, sunny Hollywood. In fact, between US Weekly’s hot pinkish backdrop, Absolut’s “ruby red” carpet and the orange tulips in front of WeHo hotspot Republic, we felt a bit queasy. US Weekly honored Jessica Alba for being a style icon, but that trophy she had on her arm was her equally good-looking, slightly younger brother, Joshua Alba. Also in the family way were Paris and Nicky Hilton, hanging in a corner banquette with Kevin Connolly and Kimberly Stewart. Not everyone brought a sibling. Avril Lavigne was with her fiancé, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, Tori Spelling was practically tattooed onto her man, Dean McDermott, and Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro continued to defy breakup rumors. Junior-set heartthrob Jesse McCartney caused unendurable 'tween angst by bringing Katie Cassidy. David Spade came solo. He’s been seeing Heather Locklear, who is said to be despondent over the fact that her estranged husband, Richie Sambora, has been having an affair with her best friend, Denise Richards. We read that in US Weekly. |
