New York, April 3, 2006 – The fresh scent of April rain ushered in the Fragrance Foundation’s 34th annual FiFi Awards on Monday. Well, it was more of a torrential downpour, but we’re going with imagery here, like in a perfume commercial. Shimmering regally in the gentle spring shower was Geena Davis, who hosted the evening. Well, actually, she was shivering in the freezing wind gusts blowing down 34th Street by the Hammerstein Ballroom, but you get the idea.

Fashion designer Betsey Johnson was kvelling about her brand new granddaughter, Laila. What’s the baby wearing? “What grandma buys”, Betsey said.

Vanessa Minnillo didn’t want to talk to reporters, claiming she had to work at the FiFis. But one of her Entertainment Tonight cohorts told us that the rumor that Minnillo is dating Nick Lachey is true.

Sex and the City hunk John Corbett was not promoting a fragrance, but he presented an award. His self-titled debut album was coming out the next day, and he sported shoulder-length rock star hair to go with it. Bo Derek is his girlfriend, so maybe he’ll go for braids next.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Adriana Lima, Lee Ann Womack, Michael Kors and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough, also jumped through the puddles for FiFi.
