New York, March 21, 2006 – It was dueling movie premieres on Tuesday in New York, with Lucky Number Slevin rolling out the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theater, and Steve Buscemi’s Lonesome Jim down in Chelsea. With Lindsay Lohan on the guest list for the Slevin premiere, we hoped for a showdown with her reputed enemy, Scarlett Johansson, girlfriend of the film’s star, Josh Hartnett. The ladies sorted out their differences by not showing up. The only lady who did show up at the premiere was Lucy Liu, who is also the only lady in Slevin. Liu called her cast mates Bruce Willis, Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman and Hartnett “crushable”. The action veteran Liu said that she wants to do comedy, and so she executive-produced one. “It’s called The Cleaner, and it’s with Cedric the Entertainer, and it’s sort of like a takeoff on Bourne Identity", Liu told us. How does Bruce Willis deal with those tabloid reports that he ignores his purported romantic interest, Petra Nemcova? He ignores them. We spent so long gathering all of this riveting information that we were just in time to make the after party for Lonesome Jim, at Home nightclub in Chelsea. Stars Liv Tyler and Mary Kay Place and director Steve Buscemi partied with Michael Stipe and artist Julian Schnabel. The New York Observer hosted the premiere, and copies of the pink newspaper were strewn throughout the packed club, on the knee-high coffee tables that we kept tripping over after downing a few of the evening’s signature cocktails, called the "Lonesome Observer". |
