Los Angeles, Feb. 7, 2006 – Monday, Feb. 6 was the day the music died in New York City and elsewhere around the U.S. That’s when everyone who’s anyone in the music business headed to Los Angeles for Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy Award party on Tuesday. Add to that anyone who could score an invitation, and there was a distinct showbiz drain, with all the talent surfacing on the West Coast. It was superstar gridlock at the Beverly Hilton, with a huge array of talented folks like Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Dido, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Diana Ross and young up-and-comers Chris Brown and Ciara paying homage to music industry legend Davis. Rocker Sheryl Crow seems unfazed, at least publicly, by her just-announced breakup with cyclist Lance Armstrong. It was great to see the Dixie Chicks back on the music scene after a hiatus; we can’t wait to hear their new music. Barry Manilow sang a song from his new album; one of many performances of the evening. Courtney Love is looking glamorous again. Actors on the scene included Sharon Stone and Terrence Howard; Jamie Foxx and Ludacris cross between the two disciplines. |
