Las Vegas, December 19, 2005 – With Ashlee Simpson in a Japanese hospital and Jessica Simpson busy protecting her assets from soon-to-be ex-husband Nick Lachey, papa Joe Simpson was the only clan member in Las Vegas for the Radio Music Awards. Meanwhile, Bo Bice, who had stepped in to perform at the last minute, had to cancel after being rushed to a hospital when he became ill during rehearsals. But a more recent reality show star, Survivor Guatemala winner Danni Boatwright, made it safely to the Aladdin Resort for the RMAs, which were broadcast live on NBC.

Snoop Dogg wore a fur coat to the awards despite relatively mild temperatures, and animal rights activists are apparently still scared of the rapper/actor, and left him in peace. Back in May, we contacted PETA president Ingrid Newkirk to ask why the group’s protestors, awaiting Jennifer Lopez at David Letterman’s studios, reamined silent and idle when Snoop walked right in front of them wearing a fur coat. On that day, ironically, J. Lo wore no fur. Newkirk never responded.
